About Us
Aurora Ristorante is a small neighborhood restaurant located in the elegant and magical Sausalito. Sausalito is known for its wonderful views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge as well as for its historic Richardson Bay houseboat community, which was built after WWII by artists and other free spirits.
Aurora’s façade is barely noticeable from the streets, but once inside the atmosphere is hospitable and cozy with art display and elegant wall colors that gives the room a European ambiance reminiscent of a "Trattoria", an Italian country style dining, made casual by wooden tables. chairs, ceiling lights, and old fashion bar.
The restaurant is notorious within locals and was founded merely sixteen years ago by Carlo Scatena, who had more than fifty years’ experience, brought loving care and the tradition of his italian culture. Blessed with a great staff who share his passion, Carlo and his wife Aurora brought satisfaction to his customers in providing the best products combined with his authentic Italian home-made dishes.
Carlo Scantena knew that it was time to retired and he was looking for the special person to take his place and a person who was going to take care his legendary restaurant. He found the perfect person, Cesar Rodriguez one of his best worker and his right hand.
Cesar Rodriguez, our new owner personifies the American dream – a self-made man who through hard work and perseverance became a successful businessman. Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Rodriguez moved to United States at the age of 18. He began his hospitality and restaurant career working here, he began as a bussed boy, waiter and worked his way up, while developing a sound knowledge of the restaurant industry and what makes for a successful business.
Cesar Rodriguez and his fiancé Vanessa, who had different ideas and dreams in mind but "mix" them together like colors on a painters' palette and created “New” Aurora Ristorante Sausalito. The common inspiration for them was to offer top quality food without necessarily charge people a huge amount of money, adding to people's dining experience the warmth, and of course a bit of the drama, that only real and honest people can offer.
